The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU) extends its revolutionary solidarity and best wishes to the South African Communist Party (SACP) as it convenes its 5th Special National Congress from 11-14 December 2024 at the Birchwood Hotel, Boksburg.
This crucial gathering is not a mere meeting of comrades but a strategic command centre for the development of bold, progressive policies that will advance the struggle for a just and equitable society. We salute the Party’s unwavering commitment to the emancipation of the working class and the poor in the face of ongoing socio-economic challenges.
As SADTU, we trust that the Congress will deliberate on strategies to counter the rising inequalities, unemployment, and poverty that continue to plague South African society. The Party’s ability to offer a clear and principled left agenda is critical in steering the nation away from neoliberal policies that serve only the interests of a privileged elite. We urge the Congress to reaffirm the historic role of the SACP as the vanguard of the working class, ensuring that socialism remains at the core of South Africa’s economic and social transformation.
The 5th Special National Congress comes at a critical juncture, where workers and the poor face intensified exploitation amid global capitalist crises. The outcomes of this Congress must include actionable programmes to build worker unity, fight for decent wages and working conditions, and strengthen the alignment between progressive trade unions and the Party.
In the true spirit of solidarity, SADTU commits to advocating for the unity of the Alliance. We remain confident that this Congress will reignite the collective resolve of Party cadres to build a socialist society free of oppression and exploitation.
