The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) in Gauteng welcomes the reconfigured Provincial Executive Committee of our ally, the African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng.

COSATU is of the view that the reasons advanced for the reconfiguration of the ANC PEC are not convincing taking into consideration the work that was put in to achieve the electoral outcomes in Gauteng, but respects that the ANC is an independent organisation that takes decisions in its own interest.

COSATU in Gauteng will work together with the newly reconfigured PEC and its leadership in the interest of organisational renewal and unity of the Alliance. The first task of the co-convenors in our view is to unite the ANC towards regional conferences and provincial conference as well as the local government elections in 2026.

COSATU will call for the convening of the Alliance Political Council in the coming week to be briefed on the implications of the so-called reconfigured ANC PEC towards the Gauteng Provincial Government.
