The Congress of the South African Trade Unions (COSATU) and the ANC Veterans League will mark the 70th anniversary of the formation of COSATU’s predecessor, the South African Congress of Trade Unions (SACTU).
Established in March 1955, SACTU made a declaration at its first conference in 1956 that the fight for economic and political rights were inseparable. SACTU’s legacy and its contribution to workers’ rights, social justice, and the anti-apartheid struggle will be commemorated with a roundtable featuring COSATU President Zingiswa Losi and ANC Veterans League President Snuki Zikalala as Programme Directors; Sydney Mufamadi, Humphrey Maxegwana, James Mohlatsi, Bheki Ntshalintshali, Ebrahim Patel and Fikile Majola as Speakers.
