The Agricultural Food and Allied Democratic Workers Union (AFADWU) proudly calls on all its members to unite with the working class across the country in commemorating International Workers’ Day on 1 May. Celebrations will be held in all nine provinces, marking a powerful show of unity and resistance against the continued exploitation of workers in South Africa.
Join the May Day Celebration – A Day of Action and Solidarity
As we observe this important day in the global labour calendar, AFADWU reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the fight for justice, dignity, and the rights of all workers, especially those in the agricultural, food, and retail sectors. This year’s May Day theme calls for renewed energy in building a just, equitable society.
We urge all our members to actively participate in the May Day rallies under the following calls to action:
- Demand fair wages and dignified working conditions for all workers
- Reject all forms of exploitation, abuse, and oppression in the workplace
- Uphold and protect the rights of workers, unions, and collective bargaining
- Advance the struggle for social and economic justice for the poor and working class
Together We Are Stronger
AFADWU calls on its structures, members, shop stewards, and supporters to mobilise, organise, and participate in the May Day programmes in their respective regions. Let us raise our voices as one united force against inequality and injustice.
An Injury to One Is an Injury to All
Solidarity Forever!
Let May Day 2025 be a historic moment of unity and resistance as we continue the struggle for a better life for all workers.
