The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU)’s newly elected National Office Bearers invite members of the media to a briefing on the outcomes of its 15th National Congress and the launch of its campaign to secure a decisive victory for its Alliance partners, the African National Congress (ANC) and the South African Communist Party (SACP), in the local government elections scheduled for 4 November 2026.
COSATU’s 15th National Congress, held from 12–14 October 2026 at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, resolved to support both Alliance partners.
The briefing will explain the meaning and implications of the resolution, including how COSATU intends to implement its decision to rally behind both the ANC and the SACP at the polls. It will also give the Federation an opportunity to communicate its position directly and respond to questions from the media.
